My Opinion on the PIXMA iP7240
I think that the iP7240 (72 40) is one of the best CD Printer Canon has produced to date. Why am I saying this? Because I have been using this product for at least three years now. It has proven to be reliable and durable. The CD print quality is as good as (if not better than) any inkjet CD Printer out there.
It is important to state here that you can actually use this printer to:
- Print on CD/DVD
- Print Photo (A4, 4×6, 5×7)
- Print ID Card
- Print on Edible material (with edible ink)
- Print on Paper
You can follow this link to see a more detailed description of this product.
Please note that this printer is not a replacement for Fargo but a stop gap because Fargo is still superior in quality and durability to this printer.
Also note that this printer cartridge(s) can be refilled but the quality of production will drop a little compared to buying a replacement cartridge. Only professional Photo Printers will notice these changes. People printing on CDs, ID Cards and Graphics will not observe much difference.

Good day thanks for for your good job, please how can i print print passport photograph on this printer, i have been tryiny with tray J as specify in the printers instruction.
Thanks for your comment. You can print passport photo easily if you are good in coreldraw software.. The various paper sizes are 4×6, 5×7 and A4, though other paper exist but these are the most common types.
1. 4×6 can contain 8 passport if you use landscape orientation. that is, 4 photos on top and 4 below.
2. 5×7 can take 12 on portrait though it can be slightly smaller than the 4×6.
3. A4 can take 5(big) or 6(small) across on a portrait orientation.
There is no special settings needed here, just select the paper size and fit the numbers of copies accordingly. Change the print settings to photo (instead of plain paper), choose the paper size, bingo!
Best of luck. You can reach me on 07066546868 if you want me to direct you when you are on the system or for any other info.

Hello there, please I need your opinion. Do you think the Canon ip7240 can handle small scale commercial dvd printing? I am into media work which regularly requires labelling a few hundred dvds. Do I buy this product? Thanks.
Thanks Mr. Matthew for your question. The simple answer is yes. The IP7240 is just the perfect fit.
Thank you for sharing this informative blog.
Can canon ip7240 print on plastic I’d card
very well
Run away from this printer! It’s not durable! It’s a complete waste of money, more like a crap made out of lego.
Learn a few things about the printer here https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL1vSiqJI9A1KjDqcX32AfeVEDhEWNz0wE before you give a blanket judgement.
But I still respect your opinion though. Thanks
